May 11, 2016 // 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Re-Birthing The Cool, Bebop & Beyond is the brain storm of Jazz vocalist David (The Doctor Of Bebop) Watson. The band is made up of some of the best players in the Portland Oregon area, Pete Petersen Baritone sax, Lee Wuthenow Tenor sax, Mar-Sue Tobin Alto sax, Levis Dragulin Trumpet, Shaun Congos Trombone, Laura Cunard Piano, Tim Rap Drums, Matt Holmes Bass and David Watson Leader and vocals.

Watson: “We are doing some of the charts of Gerry Mulligan, Miles Davis & Gil Evans and Dave Pell. Most of what we are playing is the West Coast movement in the period which was around the late 1940’s and early 1950’s. This music of Miles Davis, Gil Evans, Gerry Mulligan, Stan Getz, Chet Baker, Shorty Rodgers, Shelly Mann and others helped in cooling down for a minute the Hot Jazz played all over the country in the early 1940’s and late 30’s. This was a great time to live in, the music was changing and players were getting their pens out and putting great ideas down on paper, then forming groups to perform their works. The music we are playing is the results of those ideas, plus some ideas of Pete Petersen, Slide Hampton and my own.

COVER CHARGES apply when Wilfs features live music in our dining room and bar area – Wednesday – Saturday, 7pm.
Quite simply, the cover charge is equity paid directly to the artists that you are enjoying each night at Wilfs. Our new policy includes a $5 charge to all dining in our main dining room. We thank you in advance for your support of insuring equity for all.

When you join us for drinks or dinner and plan on leaving before the 7pm music starts, we won’t ask for a cover charge. That does not mean you can come early and avoid paying the cover – we want to make sure our musicians are paid for their performance. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask your host.
