From Gayot – The Guide to the Good Life

Take a ride back in the time machine for some steak and Sinatra.
Wilf’s Restaurant & Piano Bar is one of our Top 10 Portland Romantic Restaurants

In the grand era of train travel, dining cars were noted for lavish menus, silver table settings, and gracious service. This elegant and dignified restaurant would fit right in, although it’s parked on a side track in Historic Union Station. The trains won’t be a distraction as you slide into a wingback chair while the knowledgeable staff marches confidently into the dramatic territory of tableside service. They will toss your Caesar or spinach salad before your eyes, and light some of the more flamboyant entrées into flames at your elbow. Try the steak Diane or wild Northwest salmon—the kitchen supports regional, organic food producers. After partaking of the sumptuous fare, sit back and enjoy the live music—often world-class jazz. For the late-night set, Wilf’s offers a variety of fancy after-dinner drinks as well as flaming desserts.

Shelly Rudolph this Saturday!

Please join us Saturday, January 16th at 8PM for the incredible vocal stylings of Shelley Rudolph.

“When Shelly Rudolph sings, you can smell the smoke… this is the moment to catch a rising star.” - Lynn Darroch, The Oregonian

Shelly Rudolph is a maker of soul music, as a fine and sultry singer and songwriter with a sense of adventure and a desire for emotional truth. But, while soul music guides her, the stylistic plot keeps thickening, as she demonstrates on her ambitious new album, Water In My Hand. R&B, in its many guises, may be the foundation of Rudolph’s new project, but she also takes her voice into areas where you can’t deny the touch of hypnotic gospel, African concepts, New Orleans barbecue sauce, tango, jazz phrasing, and visitations from her recurring Caribbean muse. The album’s diversity of tracks and styles, and rhythmic landscapes from different global corners, makes for a diverse creative journey. But it’s also one with a clear and coherent musical identity. Learn more at ShellyRudolph.com
