The Full Package

“One of the last old fashioned classic places where the maitre d’ wears a tuxedo and prepares Steak Diane and bananas foster table side. Very unlikely place to find this restaurant – right next to Union Station, but I advise you to look past that and get inside. The food is delicious. Sure, there are places in Portland where the food is superior but you cannot beat the atmosphere. Full package in my book.”

Thank God they cater!

“I’ve been here for lunch twice so far and have had them cater a lunch meeting at our office. The restaurant itself is pretty cool. The old brick gives it a sort of “old Portland” feel. The giant red winged back chairs are incredibly comfortable too. The lunch menu is pretty basic. The reuben sandwich was great, as well as the Dijon chicken sandwich. They both got a little messy because of all the wonderful juices, but it was well worth the trouble.

For catering, we just had the sandwich luncheon for about 14 people. I chose about 4 different types of sandwiches as well as a veggie wrap. The presentation was great. They used glass serving trays/bowls and picked them up a couple hours later, which gave it that special/sustainable touch.

I will say I was impressed. The sandwiches were made fresh with quality ingredients about 30 minutes before delivery, which means, no soggy bread and satisfied customers … yay!”

5 out of 5 Stars

“Very nice – my wife and I will do this again.”

Amazing Food!

“Amazing Food! Fantastic, romantic, beautiful atmosphere! Terrific jazz. Thoughtful, knowledgable, and positive staff. Nostalgic feel-back to when dining & jazz could be a very “fine” thing. I would give this establishment a full 5 stars!”

Our reception was better than we could have imagined

“Mike and I wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU to you and every one at Wilfs. Our reception turned out better than we could have imagined. We received multiple compliments on the atmosphere and the food, as well as the fantastic service provided by everyone there. We had one person tell us that the food was much, much better than the food at a black tie wedding she went to in San Francisco. We also had friends ask if you guys were open on a regular basis and how easy it was to work with you.  We couldn’t say enough about our fantastic experience!”

“We also wanted to say thank you to you personally for all of the help in organizing and planning the reception. Your help made it so easy to make decisions and relax! We are also happy to know that we can visit Wilfs whenever we get the chance and are already planning on spending some anniversaries there! Thank you again for everything!”

Classy

“This place is CLASSY. It has old world charm and the service matches the ambiance. The host is gracious and friendly. The wait staff are always attentive. They even have some outside seating where you can sit, be served, and it is NO SMOKING. Check out their music calendar which is an eclectic assortment of jazz, classical and blues. On a rare night you can catch Curtis Salgado (As Satellite Malone) crooning some low-down Chicago blues. (for a mere $6.00 cover last night)”

Perfect Steak Diane

“My friends and I had a great time for dinner, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, service was friendly, not rushed. We all loved our dinners, my steak diane was perfect. Music was a plus, we’ll come back, and parking was nice and easy, which is a nice way to begin, we didn’t have to drive around and around.”

Great night of fun

“First time here and we had a great time. The jazz was some of the best that I have heard in town. Venue was great, located in the train station it was like a step back in time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The maître d’ was great, and he also makes the salads. The food was very good,  We had the table side prepared Caesar Salad, highly recommended. I had the ribeye steak, it was a bit thin for the price but it was Painted Hills ranch and tasty.”

Our Adventures – courtesy of Stutzman Services

“My husband and I recently had reservations at Wilfs Restaurant in Portland. Wilfs in located in the old Union Station on NW 6th, which is a lively area with travelers coming and going on the train as well as the hustle and bustle of the downtown area. As you enter the restaurant, you begin to take a step back in time. The lights are dimmed, the tables are all set with white table clothes and dinnerware and the chairs are red wing backed which turn out to be very comfortable. Very large chandeliers are dotted across the ceiling and thick red velvet drapes frame the windows. All of this is set to the mood of jazz playing in the background. We were made to feel very comfortable and relaxed…no rushing here! Take your time, it is glorious!

We had a long leisurely dinner which started with a Seasonal cheese plate, Caesar salad for two that was made for us at our table side. How fun is that? For dinner, I had the PORK LOIN with coconut pineapple marinade, cilantro jicama slaw and coconut rum basmati rice. May I say, it was FABULOUS! My husband had the SPICE RUBBED CHICKEN that was battered and fried and came with ancho stewed black beans, grilled pineapple rings, and raspberry compote, which also was very good! And then, what better way to finish off the meal…dessert of course! The crème’ brule was amazing!

Now keep in mind, they also have live jazz that starts about 8:00pm. Some of Portland’s best jazz artists perform Wednesday thru Saturday. Again, there is no rush…sit back in your wingback chair, sip on your favorite beverage and enjoy the music, as long as you like. We did! We spent 3 wonderful hours!

In case you are wondering…yes, we will go back! Until next time, happy dining!”
