Chance HaydenExperience the “superb” guitar sounds of Chance Hayden this Thursday at 7:30PM when he performs live with David Goldblatt.

One of Portland’s youngest rising talents, Chance Hayden continues to labor tirelessly shaping and polishing his craft and experimenting at the boundaries of both the acoustic and electric guitar. Committed to developing an individual voice, he’s willing to take risks to develop as a musician and act as a leader despite being younger than most of his colleagues. While leading an array of groups from small combos to a nine-piece electric salute to Miles Davis to Troubled Boots, his Vintage Americana project, Chance also performs avidly as a sideman to artists such as Shelly Rudolph, Tom Grant, Darrell Grant, Devin Phillips and the Oregon Jazz Orchestra.

You can learn more about Chance on his MySpace page.

Shelly Rudolph this Saturday!

Please join us Saturday, January 16th at 8PM for the incredible vocal stylings of Shelley Rudolph.

“When Shelly Rudolph sings, you can smell the smoke… this is the moment to catch a rising star.” - Lynn Darroch, The Oregonian

Shelly Rudolph is a maker of soul music, as a fine and sultry singer and songwriter with a sense of adventure and a desire for emotional truth. But, while soul music guides her, the stylistic plot keeps thickening, as she demonstrates on her ambitious new album, Water In My Hand. R&B, in its many guises, may be the foundation of Rudolph’s new project, but she also takes her voice into areas where you can’t deny the touch of hypnotic gospel, African concepts, New Orleans barbecue sauce, tango, jazz phrasing, and visitations from her recurring Caribbean muse. The album’s diversity of tracks and styles, and rhythmic landscapes from different global corners, makes for a diverse creative journey. But it’s also one with a clear and coherent musical identity. Learn more at ShellyRudolph.com
